The challenges of these past few months have transformed our workplaces in numerous ways. More recently, a Gartner survey had reported that 88% of organizations have asked employees to work-from-home and nearly all organizations (97%) have canceled any work-related travel. Work-from-home, therefore, has become the new norm of the workplace today. While the workplace shifts to different environments, business continuity must continue. Businesses should not suffer from a remote work environment. Having the best virtual workplace environments helps to bridge this gap.  However, this is not always convenient. A remote worker faces various challenges. Common complaints include inaccessibility to essential applications and files, network connectivity,  security  threats, lack of essential devices, and low performance. This means there is a need in organizations to increase the capacity, capability, manageability, and visibility of a remote worker so that the te...

What is SaaS?

Image
Most cloud computing service architectures fall into 3 broad categories: · Infrastructure – As-A-Service · Platform-As-A-Service · Software-As-A-Service Software as a service is a method of delivering software over the internet, on demand and typically on a subscription basis. With SaaS, cloud providers host and manage the software application and underlying  infrastructure  and handle any  maintenance  like software upgrades , users need not worry about. SaaS allows users to connect to and use cloud-based apps over the internet. Common examples include email, calendaring. The applications reside on remote cloud network accessed through web or API. How does  SaaS  Work? By means of what’s called multi tenant architecture, SaaS strictly delivers business software to thousands of customers. The cloud component simply implies an active connection to the internet and those devices and browsers that make access possible. All the elements t...

What is Virtualization?

Image
What is Virtualization? Virtualization   is the act of creating a virtual version of something- computer hardware, storage and network. It allows for the distribution of a machine’s capacity among multiple user environments. Traditionally, it was easier and more reliable to run individual tasks on individual servers: a single server hosts a single operating system that runs a single task at a time. With virtualization, one can split independent tasks onto different hardware resources. Hence, hardware resources are utilized to their maximum capacities with multiple tasks . The technology that enables virtualization is called the  hypervisor -  it gives multiple users simultaneous access to perform batch processing. Most enterprises have single-vendor IT stacks that don’t allow their legacy applications to run on a different vendor’s hardware. With virtualization, companies can partition their servers and run multiple operating systems and versi...

What is an Annual Maintenance Contract for Storages?

Image
Storages are any computing hardware that are used for storing, porting and extracting data files. They can hold temporary and permanent information. Storages  can be internal or external to a computer, server or any similar computing device. There are two different types of storage devices- 1) Primary  storages  : They are smaller in size and used to hold data temporarily and are internal to a computer. They usually include RAM and cache memories 2) Secondary  storages  : They are large storage devices with higher capacity and can store data permanently. They can either be internal or external to a computer and include hard disks, optical disk drive and USB storage device. Routine maintenances are essential to extend the life of storage hardware, and to improve performance. Why do you need an  annual maintenance contract for storage ? Your organization’s needs are changing frequently. As your organization expands, so does the ne...
